Vintage Design
This French empire revival mahogany and ormolu armoire dates from around 1890. It has generous proportions and, as with all furniture of this scale and period, it was built to come apart. The central glazed door, with an ormolu wreath mount, is flanked on either side by a single door with further mounts and decorations. There are four tapering columns with Egyptian mounts. The whole piece stands on 6 tapered, cast-paw feet. The interior has fittings for shelves or could be fitted with a pole to function as a wardrobe.
