Vintage Design
This beautiful apothecary chest is one of the most striking that we have come across in recent times. It has forty-two small drawers with each divided into four sections by internal dividers, as each section was originally used to hold a specific item of various herbs and remedies used in Chinese medicine and healing.
Original labels are on the front of each drawer stating details of the contents, these can still be read clockwise from the top to indicate what was stored in each section from front to back. At the bottom are three wider drawers that would have housed other items such as instruments associated with the apothecary.
This stunning elm cabinet is in excellent condition with its original dark lacquer finish that contrasts beautifully with the labels. Cabinets like this are becomining increasingly rare and now make wonderful statement pieces for the modern home.
